When it hardens, tears or gets pinched during assembly, oil weeps past the joint and the diff progressively loses the viscosity you built it with. That failure is gradual and easy to misread: the car does not break, it just starts diffing out more under power and losing forward traction, which feels like a setup problem rather than a leak. By the time you see oil on the outside of the case, it has been running under-filled for a while.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBecause the gasket is compressed and permanently deformed the moment you torque the case together, it should be replaced every time a diff is opened rather than reused.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 36mm diameter this is the size used in the MP9 and MP10 generation Inferno diffs.
