It has to grip the ball firmly enough that there is no free play while still allowing the rod to pivot as the chassis flexes, and those two requirements work against each other, which is what makes ball ends wearing parts rather than permanent ones.

When they wear, the torque rod develops slop and stops controlling chassis flex predictably. The car's response to steering and throttle inputs becomes inconsistent in a way that is genuinely hard to trace, because nothing has visibly broken and the rod is still attached at both ends. A badly worn end can also pop off the ball entirely under load.

Four are supplied, enough to rebuild both ends of a pair of rods. These are service parts for the optional SP torque rod set, which must already be fitted to the car. Kyosho lists them for the Inferno MP10e range, with dealers adding the MP9.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0567/0554/8376/files/kyoifw323-01_761e0cec-d5df-45e1-aabc-9764f09fae9f.jpg?v=1786242959
