The Lionel Billboard Set No. 310 was first released 1950 and production continued until 1968. It was issued with ten folded card stock billboards and five frames to hold them. The billboards would change each year and they are a testament to the advertising of the period.
Until 1956 these billboards have the word "STANDARD" printed on them, after this date this imprint is not shown. Over 50 different billboards were made for this set and value is contingent on which billboards are included and if they are not separated.
The billboard frames would work with the No. 410 billboard blinker. Also see the No. B310 issued in 1966 and 1968 in blister packs.
There are two variations:Variation A: DARK GREEN billboard frame.
Variation B: LIGHTER GREEN billboard frame.
Dimensions: Base: 5-7/8" x 7/8", Height: 3-1/4"Uncataloged Billboards
To promote their train’s features Lionel produced special billboards that were installed on selected dealer display layouts between 1952 and 1957. During this period they used two distinct methods of printing these billboards. Between the years 1952 and 1956 they used a die-cut press, but in 1957 they were printed with an offset press. The two billboards below were printed with the offset press, and the one at the bottom used the earlier die-cut press. - Detailed molded construction
