The Lionel Burlington GP-7 No. 2328was available in 1955 and 1956. This engine came equipped with headlight lenses, number boards, horn, and the fuel tank that housed the D size battery for the horn, ornamental horns, and it was illuminated at both ends. TheBLACKlettering was rubber-stamped on, as was the Burlington Route herald on the cab. Lionel issued this diesel with aREDsheet-metal frame, a three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from underneath the chassis, operating disc couplers, and a single vertical worm drive motor that powers two axles that used Magnetraction. TheSILVERpaint on this diesel was a problem, and today a premium is paid for paint that is shiny and bright. There are no variations.
All of the Lionel GP-7 units will operate equally well onOGaugeas well asO27Gaugetrack.
