LIONEL 2460 BUCYRUS ERIE CRANE CAR, 12-WHEEL, 46-50 (A) GRAY CAB
The Lionel Bucyrus Erie Crane Car No. 2460 was first issued in 1946 and was available until 1950. Produced on a BLACK painted die-cast chassis with WHITE heat-stamped lettering, all of the variations have six-wheel heavyweight passenger style trucks equipped with electronic couplers. The first issues had a WHITE cord for the hook, but subsequent releases would have a BLACK cord.
There are four variations for this car:
Variation A: Has a DARK GRAY painted cab with BLACK heat-stamped lettering. Note three hyphens in "WT-375,000-2-18NH" inscribed on the chassis. See No. 6460 for a close-up picture of this inscription. 1946 Production.
Variation B: Has a LIGHT GRAY painted cab with BLACK heat-stamped lettering. Note three hyphens in "WT-375,000-2-18NH" inscribed on the chassis. See No. 6460 for a close-up picture of this inscription. 1946 Production.
Variation C: Has a BLACK painted cab with WHITE heat-stamped lettering. Note one hyphen in "WT-375,000 2 18NH" inscribed on the chassis. The chassis has thin, narrow numbers "2460." See No. 6460 for a close-up picture of this inscription.
Variation D: Same as Variation C except with thick, wide chassis numbers "2460." Note one hyphen in "WT-375,000 2 18NH" inscribed on the chassis.
There are other differences withing these variations like the type of six wheel trucks, the length of the boom screw, and the length of the crank handles that were used on these cars.
