The Allis-Chalmers Car No. 6519 was available from 1958 until 1961. This was a new design in 1958 and was centered around an ORANGE plastic chassis that has no mold number, but was heat-stamped with BLUE lettering and Allis-Chalmers logo. This car came equipped with early AAR trucks with disc couplers that are directly riveted to the chassis.

All of the Allis-Chalmers cars have two brake stands located at the ends of these cars. These stands are fragile and will break easily, most often cracking the chassis in the process. Collectors should examine these brake stands closely for signs of cracking on the underside of the chassis. The susceptibility of breakage to these stands caused Lionel to eliminate them on later issues, most notably on the No. 6544 Missile Firing Car.

The GRAY plastic load is what Lionel called a "condenser/heat exchanger" and is held in place by two tabs that are located in the center on each end. In addition, Lionel included wire tie-downs that hooked to the chassis and secured the load at each end.

There are three variations:

Variation A: DARK ORANGE chassis with DARK BLUE lettering.
spacer
Variation B: ORANGE chassis with LIGHTER BLUE lettering.
spacer
Variation C: DULL ORANGE chassis that is about the same color as the cab on the No. 6119-25 Work Caboose. A difficult variation to find.

This could make a great addition to your collection railroad layout or gift for a friend
