Kyosho 1-N3033N M3x3.3mm Nylon Lock Nut 5pcs

A pack of five M3 nylon insert lock nuts, 3.3mm in height, from Kyosho's universal hardware range.

A nylon insert nut has a collar of nylon moulded into its top. As the screw threads on, it cuts into that nylon, and the friction this creates is what stops the nut backing off under vibration. On a radio control car that matters almost everywhere, because a nitro engine or a brushless motor at speed generates exactly the kind of sustained vibration that walks a plain nut loose over the course of a run.

They are consumable by design. Every time you remove and refit one, the nylon is cut a little further and grips a little less. After a few cycles a nut that spins on by hand has stopped doing its job, and reusing it is how a wheel or a suspension component comes loose mid-race.

The 3.3mm height is taller than the plain M3 nut, which is the nylon collar accounting for the difference, so check clearance where space is tight.
