A pack of ten M3 x 15mm flat head screws with a hex socket drive, from Kyosho's universal hardware range.

A flat head, also called countersunk, sits flush with the surface rather than standing proud. That is functional rather than cosmetic. On a chassis plate it means nothing catches on the ground or on another car, and on suspension components it lets parts sit directly against each other without a screw head holding them apart. It also means the screw needs a countersunk hole, so it is not interchangeable with a button or cap head in the same position.

The hex socket drive lets you apply real torque without rounding the head, which a cross-head fastener does quickly once it has been in and out a few times.

At 15mm this is a longer screw, used where it has to pass through several parts before threading in. Getting length right matters: too short and it does not engage enough thread to hold, too long and it bottoms out or protrudes through the far side.

This part supersedes the older Kyosho number 1392.
