A pair of KC-Slicks tires in the hard compound, for 1/10 scale on-road cars.

Tire compound is the single biggest performance variable on an on-road car, ahead of any suspension setting. A hard compound gives up outright grip compared with a medium or soft, but it lasts substantially longer and holds its shape better at speed, which makes it the right choice for high-grip surfaces where a softer tire would overheat and go away, and for general running where tire life matters more than lap time.

A slick has no tread pattern at all, which puts the maximum amount of rubber on the ground. That is what you want on a clean dry surface, and it is why slicks are standard in on-road racing.

Compound is also a balance tool rather than only a grip question. Running hard at one end and softer at the other shifts where the car finds grip first, which is a legitimate way to cure a loose rear or persistent understeer.

Dealers give the dimensions as 64mm outer diameter and 24mm width. Two are supplied. Soft and medium compounds are available separately. Inserts not included.
