Kyosho 96646 12x15mm Shim Set 0.1mm 0.2mm

An assorted set of 12 x 15mm shims in 0.1mm and 0.2mm thicknesses, from Kyosho's universal hardware range.

Shims are how you take up the difference between what a drawing says and what an assembly actually measures. On an RC car they sit beside bearings and gears to set endplay, control how far a shaft can float in its housing, and space gears so that they mesh on the correct part of the tooth face rather than riding high or low.

That last point is where shims earn their keep. A gear that meshes even slightly off will run noisy, wear fast and eventually strip, and the fix is almost always a tenth of a millimetre of shim rather than a new part. Having both thicknesses on hand means you can dial an assembly in properly instead of settling for close enough.
