Kyosho 97003 Pillow Ball Nut Set DBX DST

This is a set of pillow ball nuts from Kyosho's universal hardware range, used at suspension and shock mounting points across the D-series chassis.

A pillow ball nut is a threaded fastener with a spherical seat, and its job is to let a link or shock end pivot freely through a range of angles while still being clamped down tight. It is what allows a shock to move through its arc as the suspension cycles without binding at the mount, and what stops the mounting point from being loaded in a single fixed direction.

They wear at the ball seat. As that seat opens up, the joint develops play, and play at a shock mount translates directly into a shock that no longer moves in a consistent plane. That shows up as a car that feels different side to side and will not hold a setup between runs.

Kyosho lists this part as fitting the DBX VE 2.0, and dealers extend it across the DBX, DST, DRT and MFR platforms. Kyosho notes that this part number is substituted by FZ76, so pack size and ball diameter may differ from the original listing.
