Kyosho FAW051 Aluminum Center Shaft EP Fazer

This is Kyosho's aluminum centre shaft for the EP Fazer, Fazer Rally and Fazer Kobra, sold as an option part.

On a shaft-driven four-wheel-drive car the centre shaft runs the length of the chassis and carries all of the drive from the motor to the front and rear differentials. It turns at high speed continuously, which makes it one of the few parts under load every moment the car is moving.

Because it spins so fast, straightness and balance matter enormously. A shaft that has been bent in a crash sets up a vibration you feel through the whole chassis, and that vibration works its way into bearings and diff outdrives, wearing them prematurely. It also costs drivetrain efficiency directly, which on an electric car shows up as reduced runtime and a motor running hotter than it should.

Aluminum over the standard shaft saves rotating mass, which is the most valuable place on the car to remove weight, since the motor has to accelerate it every time you get on the throttle.

Kyosho states no anodizing colour for this part, so treat any colour claim as unconfirmed.
