Kyosho IF132 Brake Cam Set Inferno

This is the brake cam set for Kyosho's Inferno nitro platform, including the actuating rods.

The brake cam converts the pull of the throttle servo linkage into the squeezing force that clamps the brake pads onto the disk. It is the mechanical heart of the braking system, and its condition directly determines brake feel.

When the cam surfaces wear, the geometry changes and the brakes stop applying progressively. What you get instead is a long dead zone at the start of the lever travel followed by a sudden bite, which makes the car very difficult to slow accurately into a corner. Because that develops gradually, most drivers adapt to it without realising, and only notice how bad it had become after fitting fresh parts.

It also sits in a hot, dirty part of the transmission, so it accumulates wear faster than its size suggests.
