This is the clutch pilot shaft for Kyosho's .18 and .28 class nitro platforms.
The pilot shaft threads into the engine crankshaft and is what the clutch bell and its bearings run on. It is a precision part in a demanding position: it spins at full engine speed, it carries the clutch bell's radial load, and it takes the axial clamping force of the whole clutch assembly.
Wear shows up as bell wobble. Once the shaft is worn where the bearings ride, the clutch bell no longer runs true, which throws off gear mesh with the spur and makes the clutch engage unevenly. That produces a car that is hard to drive smoothly out of corners and destroys spur gears faster than it should.
Kyosho notes this shaft works with both their torsion bar spring type clutches and the standard type, so it covers either setup. This is the B revision, superseding the original IF208. Fitment covers the Inferno NEO and MP-7.5 Sports 4, DBX and DBX 2.0, DST, DRT and DRX, DMT and MFR.
