A pair of joint cups with a 4mm bore and 17mm length, used on the centre driveshafts of Kyosho's Inferno platform.
The joint cup is the cupped end that receives the driveshaft bone and transmits torque to it. It is one half of a wearing pair: as the bone tips round off, the cup opens up to match, and the two degrade together. That is why replacing a worn bone into an old cup rarely fixes a knock for long, and why the cups are sold as service parts in their own right.
Play here is easy to feel and easy to hear. A worn cup produces a knock under acceleration and a clunk on throttle transitions, and because these sit in the centre driveline, the play affects drive to both axles rather than one wheel.
This part supersedes the older Kyosho number FM185. Dealers describe it as the front and rear centre driveshaft cup that takes drive off the pinion on the Inferno GT2, and list fitment across the Inferno GT, GT2 and GT2 VE, Inferno NEO and NEO 2.0, Inferno VE and Inferno US Sports. Two are supplied.
