A pair of replacement air cleaner sponges for Kyosho's Inferno nitro air filter.

The air filter is the single most important maintenance item on a nitro engine, and the sponge element is the part that actually does the filtering. A 1/8 buggy runs in dust and dirt at high rpm, and any grit that gets past the filter goes straight through the engine, where it scores the piston and sleeve. That damage is not repairable and it is not gradual in a way you can catch. A neglected filter is the most common cause of a prematurely worn engine.

Sponges are consumables in the truest sense. They tear at the edges, they lose their oil, and once the foam breaks down it stops trapping fine particles even if it still looks intact. Most racers keep several sets so a clean, freshly oiled element goes on for every run rather than trying to clean and dry one between heats.

These are the element only, not the complete air cleaner assembly. Two are supplied. Kyosho lists them for the Inferno MP9 and its TKI variants, MP10 and MP11.
