Kyosho IF505-12 12T Pinion Gear Inferno VE

A 12 tooth pinion gear for Kyosho's electric Inferno platforms.

The pinion is the small gear on the motor shaft, and together with the spur it sets the final drive ratio. On a 1/8 scale electric buggy that ratio is the single most important thing you control after tires. Fitting a smaller pinion gears the car down, which builds acceleration out of tight corners and drops motor and ESC temperatures noticeably. Going up on teeth trades that punch for top speed on long straights, at the cost of more heat.

At 12 teeth this is toward the lower end of the range, which makes it a sensible choice for tight technical tracks, for hot days when temperatures are marginal, or when you are running a low-turn motor that has more power than the track can use.

Kyosho lists this pinion for the Inferno NEO 3.0 VE and NEO 4.0 VE, Inferno MP10e and MP10e TKI2, MP9e Evo. V2, Psycho Kruiser VE 2.0, KB10W Mad Wagon VE, and the IFW451 brushless conversion kit. Always reset your gear mesh after changing pinions.
