This is the 55mm shock case for Kyosho's Inferno platform, the body the piston travels through.
A shock case is a precision part rather than a simple housing. Its internal bore is the surface the piston and seals work against, so its finish and roundness determine whether the shock can hold oil at all. Scoring on that bore, whether from a bent shaft, a piece of grit that got past the seals, or simply many rebuilds' worth of wear, means the shock will never seal properly again no matter how many fresh O-rings you fit. It is the part people replace last and often should replace first.
Cases also get dented and crushed in impacts, and a case that is even slightly out of round binds the piston and gives damping that changes through the stroke.
Length is what distinguishes this from its siblings, so check before ordering: 55mm is the rear case on the Inferno MP-7.5 and the front on the ST-R. Kyosho also lists it for the Inferno VE, Inferno GT and GT2 and the MP10. Note that Kyosho now shows this part as discontinued.
