Kyosho IFW434-01 84mm HD Front Center Swing Shaft

This is the 84mm heavy duty swing shaft used inside Kyosho's IFW434 Cap C-Universal front and centre driveshaft assembly.

A universal joint driveshaft differs from a simple dogbone in that it maintains constant velocity through its operating angle rather than speeding up and slowing down twice per revolution. At the front of a four-wheel-drive buggy, where the shaft is articulating through steering angle and suspension travel simultaneously, that difference shows up as smoother power delivery and less binding at full lock.

The shaft is the wearing element of the assembly. It carries the full drivetrain load in torsion through joints that are constantly moving, and once the joint ends open up you get a knock on throttle transitions and accelerated wear on the outdrives either side. Selling it separately means you replace the worn part rather than the whole universal assembly.

Length is what distinguishes this from its siblings, so check before ordering: this is the 84mm front and centre shaft, while the rear and centre position uses a 110mm shaft under a different part number. Kyosho lists it across the Inferno MP9, MP9 TKI2 through TKI4, MP9e Evo. V2 and MP10e.
