A pair of 78mm Big Bore shock springs, wound with 1.4mm wire over 8.5 turns and color coded orange.
Kyosho's numbering encodes the specification directly: 8.5 turns of 1.4mm wire at a 78mm free length, in the MS medium short length class. The color code exists so a spring can be identified at a glance in the pit box rather than measured against the others.
Within a fixed wire diameter and free length, more turns means a softer spring. At 8.5 turns this is the softest of Kyosho's three 78mm springs in this wire gauge, softer than both the 8 turn light blue and the 7.5 turn gray.
A softer spring lets the chassis roll and squat more, which loads the tires progressively and builds mechanical grip. That makes it the choice for loose, dusty, rutted or rough ground where the suspension needs freedom to follow the surface rather than being held flat. The trade-off is that it bottoms out more readily on heavy landings and can feel lazy on a high-bite groomed track.
Kyosho lists these as an option part for the Inferno MP9 and its TKI variants, MP10, MP10e and MP777. Two are supplied.
