Kyosho R246-8584 210mm Silicone Sensor Cable

This is a 210mm silicone sensor cable for use between a sensored brushless motor and a sensored speed controller.

The sensor cable carries the rotor position signal that tells the ESC exactly where the motor is at any instant, which is what gives a sensored system its smooth, torquey response from a standing start and its clean low-speed control. That makes cable condition more important than it looks. A damaged or intermittent sensor lead causes stuttering, cogging on launch, and in some cases a total loss of sensored operation as the ESC falls back to sensorless mode mid-race.

Silicone insulation is the reason to choose this cable over a hard-jacketed one. It stays flexible in cold weather, tolerates the heat radiating off the motor can, and routes cleanly around a tight chassis without putting strain on the connectors at either end.

At 210mm this is the longer of Kyosho's two lengths, and it is the one to choose when the ESC is mounted well away from the motor or when you need to route the lead around a battery tray or bulkhead. A 190mm version covers shorter runs. This is an optional accessory rather than a kit replacement part.
