Kyosho SX008 Slipper Clutch Plate Scorpion XXL

This is the slipper clutch plate for the Kyosho Scorpion XXL.

A slipper clutch sits in the drivetrain and is designed to slip under sudden load rather than transmitting the full shock through the gears. That protects the transmission when the car lands from a jump with the wheels spinning, and it also limits how violently power reaches the ground on a hard launch, which can improve acceleration on a loose surface by preventing wheelspin.

The plate is the friction surface that does the actual slipping. It wears by design, and as it does the slipper loses its ability to hold a consistent setting. A worn plate makes the clutch grab and release unpredictably instead of slipping progressively, and an inconsistent slipper is arguably worse than none, because you cannot predict how the car will put power down from one corner to the next.

Replacing the plates restores the smooth, repeatable slip the assembly is supposed to have and lets you actually tune the setting. This is the genuine Kyosho part for the 1/7 scale Scorpion XXL.
