Kyosho SX014 Steering Pillow Ball Scorpion XXL

A set of four steering pillow balls for the Kyosho Scorpion XXL.

A pillow ball is a threaded fastener with a spherical seat, and its job is to let a steering link pivot freely through a range of angles while still being clamped down tight. That is what allows the link to follow the suspension through its travel without binding at the mount, and what stops the joint being loaded in a single fixed direction.

They wear at the ball seat. As that seat opens up the joint develops play, and play in the steering linkage is particularly damaging because it sits between the servo and both front wheels. The car stops returning to the same centre point, steering feels imprecise just off centre, and no amount of trim adjustment corrects it because the slop is mechanical.

Because the wear is gradual and the parts are small, this is a commonly missed cause of vague steering on a well-used car. Four are supplied, enough to rebuild the steering linkage. This fits the 1/7 scale Scorpion XXL.
