This is a 102mm swing shaft for Kyosho's D-series chassis, used in the center and front drivetrain positions.

The swing shaft, more commonly called a dogbone or driveshaft, is what carries torque from the differential out to the hub or from one diff to another while allowing the angle between them to change as the suspension moves. It has to transmit full drivetrain load through a joint that is constantly articulating, which makes it one of the highest-stress parts on a four-wheel-drive car.

Wear shows up at the ends first. The bone tips round off and the cups they sit in open up, and the resulting play produces a knock under acceleration and a clunk on throttle transitions. Left alone, a worn shaft eventually pops out of its cup mid-corner, and on a center shaft that means an immediate loss of drive.

This is the genuine Kyosho part at the correct 102mm length, so driveline geometry stays as designed. It supersedes the earlier TR117. Dealers list fitment as the DBX, DBX 2.0, DBX VE, DRX and DMT. One shaft is supplied.
