Kyosho TRW160-01 102mm Center Universal Swing Shaft

This is the 102mm center swing shaft for Kyosho's TRW160 universal center shaft assembly.

A universal joint shaft differs from a standard dogbone in an important way: it maintains constant velocity through its operating angle instead of speeding up and slowing down twice per revolution. In the center of a four-wheel-drive chassis, where the shaft runs at full drivetrain speed and takes the whole torque load, that difference shows up as smoother power delivery and noticeably less vibration through the chassis at speed.

The shaft itself is the wearing part of the assembly. The joint ends take constant articulation under load, and once play develops you get a knock on throttle transitions and accelerating wear on the diff outdrives either side of it.

This is the genuine Kyosho replacement at the correct 102mm length, so driveline geometry is unchanged. Kyosho classifies it as an option part for the DRX and lists it across essentially the entire DRX rally range including the Subaru Impreza WRC, Lancia Stratos, Lancer Evolution VII, Ford Fiesta S2000 and Demon, plus the DRX VE variants and the DBX VE 2.0. One shaft is supplied.
