Our Story

Beaverton Milestone Hobby Shop was built from a lifelong love of hobbies, family traditions, and the memories that come from building something together.

My name is Mark Witek, and for me, hobbies have always been about much more than the things sitting on a shelf.

In our family, there was a tradition: every boy received a Lionel train for his first Christmas. Before we were old enough to understand what a locomotive was, trains were already becoming part of our lives. Those Lionel trains represented Christmas mornings, family, imagination, and a tradition that was passed from one generation to the next.

Some of my favorite memories growing up are of building models with my dad. Sitting together, opening a new kit, sorting through the pieces, painting, assembling, and watching something slowly come to life taught me more than how to build a model. It taught me patience, creativity, problem-solving, and the value of spending time together.

Those are the kinds of memories that stay with you.

As I got older, my interests expanded, but that love of building and creating never went away. Trains, models, RC vehicles, 3D printing, tabletop gaming, and countless other hobbies all have something in common: they give us a reason to slow down, use our imagination, learn something new, and sometimes spend a few hours with the people who matter most.

As a husband, father of four, and disabled veteran, family and community are incredibly important to me. I wanted to create a hobby shop that could help give other families the same kinds of experiences I was fortunate enough to have growing up.

That is why I created Beaverton Milestone Hobby Shop.

I didn't want it to be just another store filled with products. I wanted to build a place where a grandfather can introduce his grandson to model trains, where a father and daughter can pick out a model to build together, where someone can discover RC for the first time, where friends can gather around a tabletop game, and where experienced hobbyists can find the parts, supplies, and advice they need for their next project.

Whether your passion is model railroading, RC cars and trucks, Warhammer and tabletop miniatures, plastic models, die-cast, trading cards, 3D printing, stained glass, or simply making something with your own hands, we want you to feel at home here.

Hobbies have a way of bringing generations together. They create conversations, teach skills, inspire creativity, and turn ordinary afternoons into memories that can last a lifetime.

For me, Beaverton Milestone Hobby Shop is a way to continue a tradition that started long before the shop ever existed—from that first Lionel train under the Christmas tree to those afternoons building models beside my dad.

Now I get the opportunity to help the next generation discover those same passions.

We don't just sell hobbies. We help build memories.
