These hat bushings support the steering rack assembly on the RC10B74 platform. The flanged shoulder locates each bushing in its bore while the inner diameter rides on the steering post, giving the steering components a low-friction pivot surface to turn on.
They fit the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, and RC10B74.2D 1:10 scale 4WD off-road buggies and are direct replacements for the bushings supplied in those kits. Installation is in the stock steering position and requires no modification to the chassis or the surrounding parts.
Bushings are a consumable in any steering system. Dirt and grit work into the pivot over time and gradually wear the bore oversize, which puts free play into the steering rack and takes precision out of the front end. Replacing them during a routine steering rebuild removes that play, smooths steering movement, and reduces the load the servo has to work against. They are inexpensive enough that a spare set belongs in every pit box.
