Walthers Cornerstone 933-2907 HO Gas Storage Tank Kit

Back when coal gas fueled home heating and lighting, tanks like this were the signature structure of any gas works, often dominating the skyline. These black giants were the last stop at the plant, storing and pressurizing gas before it flowed through underground pipelines to customers.

At lower-demand hours the prototype expanded using telescoping sections called lifts, kept aligned by guide rails on a web of exterior steel trusses. The 933-2907 captures that intricate look with realistic exterior trusses plus separate stairways and ladders, and it goes together easily. A must-have for period city scenes and the finishing touch for a complete gas works, one or two tanks can also suggest a larger plant nearby where space is limited. Molded in black plastic, it measures 9-7/8" 24.6cm diameter x 9-1/8" 22.8cm tall.
