As larger engines entered service in the 1920s, older coaling towers could not keep up, so railroads contracted for new concrete towers that were affordable, fireproof, and weatherproof. This authentic concrete-design model makes a natural focal point in any engine terminal.

Item 933-3262 can serve three tracks at once, maximizing service in minimum space, and includes a coal delivery shed along with detailed chutes and mechanisms molded to look like realistic concrete. The same sturdy construction that appealed to railroads also made these towers hard to remove, so with its metal parts stripped for scrap the model can still stand in a contemporary scene. Separate details and decal signs are included. The finished tower measures 5 x 5-1/4 x 7-1/4" (12.7 x 13.3 x 18.4cm).
