While most railroads kept one major backshop, machine shops at outlying terminals let crews make repairs closer to the action, returning locomotives to service faster and more economically. As new engine terminals were built, most received a shop capable of handling just about any repair.

Item 933-3264 matches the design of the Modern Roundhouse (933-3260, sold separately) and can be built as an attached or freestanding structure. It includes a boiler house to supply steam, electricity, and compressed air to the facility, and its large roll-up doors can be assembled open or closed. The baseplate has slots that accept popular rail sizes, and separate windows and clear glazing add realism. The finished model measures 8-1/8 x 5-1/4 x 6-1/2" (20.6 x 13.3 x 16.5cm).
