When steel plate became affordable in the 1920s, railroads began replacing decaying wooden towers with larger-capacity all-steel tanks, usually erected away from the tracks and feeding water to locomotives through standpipes.

Requiring only a small amount of layout space, kit 933-3817 offers all the versatility of the prototype and comes with two standpipes you can install wherever you want. Detailed parts are molded in black plastic, and complete instructions make construction straightforward. The finished tank measures 2 x 2 x 4-1/2" 5 x 5 x 11.4cm.
