LIONEL 2029 2-6-4 LOCOMOTIVE, 64-69

The Lionel Adriatic Type 2-6-4-Locomotive No. 2029 would be available from 1964 until 1969. This locomotive shares the same boiler with the No. 2016, 2018, 2026 (1951), 2036, 2037, 2037-500 and 637. Equipped with drive and connecting rods only, this engine had a two position directional unit whose control lever protrudes through the top of the boiler right in front of the cab, sheet-metal trailing truck, smoke unit, headlight with lens and spoked driving wheels of which one uses a traction tire. It came with either a No. 1060T streamlined, or No. 234W square tender. There are four variations:

Variation A: Has a No. 234W square tender inscribed "LIONEL LINES."

Variation B: Has a No. 1060T streamlined tender. (1964)

Variation C: Has a No. 234W square tender inscribed "PENNSYLVANIA." A rare variation.

Variation D: The bottom identification plate reads, "THE LIONEL TOY CORPORATION, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740," and the trailing truck is stamped "Japan." From the Hagerstown Set No. 11600 issued in 1968.

This locomotive was designed to work on 027 Gauge track, but it will work equally well on the wider radius of O Gauge track.
